26/04/2011 HR Update - Whats not Changing...
It had previously been expected that certain other changes would take place in April 2011.
These are now no longer going ahead as planned. These include:
Flexible working.
Under original plans, the right to request flexible working would have been extended to parents of children under 18 years of age from 6 April. This extension has now been scrapped in a bid to reduce red tape for employers. The right continues to exist only for parents of children under 17 (or under 18 if the child is disabled).
Time off for training.
The right to request time off for training was originally going to be extended to all employees from 6 April. The government has now revoked this legislation and the right continues to exist only in respect of employers with 250 or more employees.
