April 2026 Statutory Rate Increases

The Following legislative changes are due to take place in April 2026:

National Minimum Wage (NMW) Increase

  • for workers aged 21 or over (the national living wage) increases to £12.71 per hour

  • for workers aged at least 18 but under 21 increases to £10.85 per hour

  • for workers aged 16 to 17 increases to £8.00

  • the apprentice rate increases to £8.00 

  • the accommodation offset increases to £11.10.

Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)

Removal of the 3 day waiting period and the Lower Earnings Limit.

  • SSP increases to £123.25 per week

  • for those earning below SSP, 80% of normal weekly earnings.

Family Related Pay Increases

£194.32 per week for:

  • statutory maternity pay;

  • statutory paternity pay;

  • statutory adoption pay;

  • statutory shared parental pay;

  • statutory parental bereavement pay; and 

  • statutory neonatal care pay.

Lower Earning Limit (LEL)

  • Lower Earnings Limit increases to £129 per week.
